Privacy Policy
White Whale Technology (“we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This policy explains how Color Name Recognizer Camera handles information on iOS and macOS.
Summary
The app performs color capture, conversion, and recognition on your device. It does not include advertising or third-party analytics SDKs, and we do not sell or use your information for cross-app tracking.
Camera, photos, and screen sampling
On iOS, the app can use the camera or a photo you select to identify colors. Camera frames and selected photos are processed on your device and are not uploaded by the app.
On macOS, single-pick uses Apple’s system color sampler and receives only the selected color. Optional Live Capture uses Screen Recording permission to process screen frames locally for color identification. This feature does not save or upload screen frames and does not capture audio. Saved colors and optional history store derived color values and associated metadata, not screen images.
Information stored on your device
Saved colors, palette projects, recent colors, preferences, and related app settings are stored locally on your device. The app does not provide account-based cloud synchronization, so this library does not automatically transfer between your iOS and macOS devices.
Clipboard, files, and sharing
The app accesses the clipboard only when you choose a copy action. It accesses files or sharing destinations only when you request an import, export, save, or share operation using Apple’s system interfaces.
App Store purchases
Purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple through StoreKit. We do not receive your payment-card details. Apple provides the app with product and entitlement information needed to unlock Premium. When the same eligible Apple Account is used for the App Store, a supported purchase may activate Premium on both iOS and macOS, including eligible earlier lifetime purchases.
Developer website, More Apps, and external links
The optional More Apps feature loads information from our website only when you open it. Our site is hosted by Netlify, which may receive and retain ordinary request data such as IP address, date and time, requested URL, browser or device information, and diagnostic/security logs. Opening our website or another external link leaves the app and is governed by the destination’s privacy practices.
The whitewhalesoft.com website uses Google Analytics on website pages. The iOS and macOS app binaries do not contain Google Analytics or another analytics SDK.
Support communications
If you contact us, we receive the information you choose to provide, such as your email address, message, and attachments. We use it to respond, troubleshoot, prevent abuse, and maintain support records for as long as reasonably necessary.
Children
The app is not designed to collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through a support request, contact us so we can address it.
Security and international processing
We use reasonable safeguards for information we handle, but no transmission or storage method is completely secure. Website hosting and support services may process information in countries other than your own, subject to applicable law and their safeguards.
Your choices
You can deny or revoke camera, photo, and Screen Recording access in system settings, stop Live Capture with Escape, avoid opening More Apps or external links, delete locally saved content within the app, and contact us about information contained in support correspondence.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app or applicable requirements change. The effective date above identifies the current version.
