Microphone access

ChordLuma requests microphone permission for Live Listen. After you tap Start listening, it keeps a short rolling audio window in memory to estimate tempo, key, and chords. Microphone audio is not uploaded to us or saved as a recording.

Listening stops when you tap Stop listening, leave Live Listen, or put the app in the background. You can revoke microphone permission in your device’s Settings.

Imported music and local results

The app reads media you select through Files or open with the app and analyzes it locally. It does not copy the original media into its saved-analysis library. If you choose a file stored with a cloud provider, Apple’s file interface or that provider may download it so the app can read it; this is not an upload to White Whale Software.

Saved analyses can include the selected file’s name, duration, tempo and key estimates, chord timeline, confidence information, and your manual corrections. A protected file-access link and a small one-way content-match code may also be stored locally so playback can reconnect to the correct original.

Forget removes a saved source link. Deleting an analysis from Saved removes that analysis and its associated link and match code, but does not delete your original audio or video. Live history and display-only transpose and capo controls are temporary session data.

Sharing and platform services

Sharing happens only when you choose it. TXT, ChordPro, and PDF exports contain derived analysis and corrections, not source audio. They may include the analysis title or original file name, so review a document before sharing it. The destination app or service then handles it under its own privacy practices.

The app has no cloud account or sync service of its own. Depending on your device settings, Apple’s backup and restore services may include app data. Apple also handles App Store services and any diagnostics you choose to share through its system settings. These platform services are governed by Apple’s privacy policy.

Support messages and this website

If you email support, we receive your email address and whatever you include, such as your message, device details, or screenshots. We use this information to respond and investigate the issue. Please do not send private recordings or music you do not have permission to share.

Website hosting and email providers may process technical information needed to deliver these pages and messages, such as an IP address or email routing information. These ChordLuma pages do not embed analytics, advertising, tracking scripts, or a contact form. Visiting this website is separate from the app’s on-device audio processing.

Retention, deletion, and your choices

Saved results remain on your device until you delete them or remove the app, subject to Apple’s backup and restore behavior. Shared copies remain with the recipients or destinations you selected. We cannot remotely access or delete your local music or analysis library.

We retain support correspondence only as reasonably needed to handle the enquiry and meet applicable obligations. You can contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of information you have sent us. We do not sell your personal information. Website and email providers may process information in other countries. Information may be disclosed where required by law.

Children and policy changes

The app does not ask for a name, age, account, or contact details to analyze music, and does not knowingly collect children’s personal information through its audio features. A parent or guardian can contact us about information a child may have sent to support.

We may update this policy when the app or its data practices change. The effective date above identifies the current policy.
